The Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
For some reason, the interpretation of the Second Amendment has been hotly debated over the past century. The meaning was quite clear to our legislators and "the people" up until the end of the 19th century. Ideas suggesting that the Second Amendment addresses gun ownership by the militia (defined as our military or police forces) or "the people" (defined as a collective) are relatively contemporary. These erroneous interpretations are common among the history revisionists who categorically ignore the context in which the Bill of Rights was written, and attempt to interpret it using more "progressive" standards.
According to the supportive writings of our Founding Fathers, the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America very simply confirms the God-given right of every individual to protect him- or herself from harm, whether in the form of criminals or, more importantly, a tyrannical government. On a personal level, the Second Amendment is your and my guarantee that we will have the tools necessary to protect ourselves and our families, should the need ever arise. It is also a mandate for personal freedom and responsibility under a government which has neither the capacity, nor the responsibility to protect its citizens.
As a gun owner and/or Concealed Handgun Licensee, you should be aware that your rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment are eroding as you read this, and are literally hanging by a thread now that a gun-unfriendly Democrat Congress and Senate are in power. We urge you to inform yourself, and to keep abreast of laws regarding your right to keep and bear arms. We'll do our best to post links to news and legislation that will effect your rights.
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms. . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
